Tag You’re It! – Using QR Codes is easy
As we bombard the audience with request to “like us,” “check in” and “follow us” we need to constantly be looking for ways to make it easier for them to do so. There is a way that is not only fast & simple but free too! Using Tags and/or QR codes, you can make social media interaction a one step process for the listeners.
For those who are unfamiliar with Tags and QR codes, they are scan-able bar codes that are read by smart phones. They contain links, text and other information. You’ve probably seen then on the bottom of movie posters or in magazine ads. Technology is usually a pricey thing but in this case it is not and it is very simple too. Tags and QR codes will allow the same result but require different scan readers (both are free smart phone apps).
How do they help you?
Instead of asking listeners to log on,
find your site or page and then “like you”, they can simply use their smart phones to scan the Tag or QR, which launches their browser and takes them to exactly where they need to be. Friend me now (really try it), here’s my Facebook QR code. (Need a reader? Try the QR Code City app: “Scan.” It’s free!)Generating these codes takes about 20 seconds and is free. Make a sign for remotes asking people to follow you, or check in at a reoccurring (recurring) remote. Imagine the value of being able to show the extra social media impact that your remote is creating for the client. You can track the activity too!
It is not just social either. Try it with contesting; it worked for Oprah! She used it as a contesting tool to give away tickets. Use the QR or Tag to open a web page for a contest. Use it to open a url for a coupon or a free download. WITL also has a great use. They use a QR code to take you to the download page for their station app. More people are getting smart phones every day. Put those phones and people to work for you.
