20 "Santa Clauses" lead to a new CHR format in Grand Forks
Classic rock KNOX-FM began stunting last week with an aggressive all-Christmas playlist and numerous street team members working the market, supporting “Santa 94.7.” This morning at 9:47am (for the station’s frequency) the Santas introduce new CHR “Z94-7.” The promotional campaign doesn’t end with the new format, though: Twitter and Facebook help Z94-7 promote a giveaway for two Lady Gaga concert tickets. The GM for owner Leighton Broadcasting is Jeff Hoberg, the OM is Jarrod Thomas and the PD/morning co-host is Emily Stevens. The research for the new CHR format comes from Dan Spice and John Lund of The Lund Consultants. Why the Christmas stunt and why the format change this week? Partly to coincide with the beginning of classes at local high schools and the (today) University of North Dakota.
