200 hours on the air? Seattle jock "Walrus" did it
For a good cause, too: raising the profile of threatened high school FM KGHP, Gig Harbor, WA (89.9). The Seattle P-I says the fundraising stunt “was orchestrated to raise money” for KGHP. It broadcasts on the peninsula and over to Tacoma at 89.9, with translators at 89.3 and 93.7. Peninsula High School is having trouble funding the radio operation, inspiring Walrus to try breaking the Guinness world record for continuous broadcasting. He got five minutes an hour as a break.
