2012 CES opens in Las Vegas, with some news about radio
HD Radio developer iBiquity will be at its Central Hall booth, displaying more than 60 new receiver models from makers such as Alpine, Acoustic Research, Audiovox, Clarion, Denon, JVC, Kentwood, Insignia, Marantz and Pioneer. iBiquity expects smartphones on the market this year will have built-in HD Radio technology, and it has models of cellular handsets. iBiquity CEO Bob Struble says 22 OEM automotive brands are now building HD Radio receivers into their vehicles. iBiquity COO Jeff Jury says "we are past critical mass" now in the OEM Auto segment, and iBiquity is spotlighting new capabilities such as real-time traffic. This year's CES 2012 expects 140,000 attendees and more than 2,700 exhibitors.Previous and Next Stories
