67 Million Tablets Sold
Strategy Analytics is reporting that 67 million tablets were sold worldwide in 2011. The Android platform had a record 39% of the world’s share, selling 26.8 million units. However, Apple iOS revealed a strong showing in the fourth quarter of the year with 58% of the share of the market. This record sale of tablets is up 260% from 2010. These numbers do not include e-books/e-readers. Also noted by analysts is Microsoft’s poor showing of only 1% of global sales.
