A Florida woman sues Clear Channel for a grand prize never received
The radio station contest in 2007 promised a brand new home for the grand prize winner. Fifty-year old Paula Hedberg was one ten people who were given potential keys to a $300,000 home, and hers was the winning key. However, by the time she was to take possession, the developer was bankrupt, and Hedberg never received the home or the backup prize of $150,000. Hedberg filed suit against the developer, Copperhead LLC, Clear Channel, and Journal Broadcast Group, which owns the TV station that broadcast the key finale. However, Clear Channel is claiming the woman is suing the wrong company. Legal representatives for Clear Channel tell the paper that the developer was solely responsible for the prize, and since they didn't pay it's not the responsibility of "the promoter" to pay. There's more from the News-Press here. The Clear Channel stations named in the lawsuit are WOLZ-FM (95.3), WZJZ-FM (100.1) and country WCKT-FM (107.1).
