A Haiti radio reporter is excuted on a city street
He was standing outside of a bank in the capital city of Port-au-Prince when a gunman allegedly tried to rob him. Radio Kiskeya (88.5) reporter Jean Louis Charles Richard was shot twice in the head and died on the street in a pool of blood. An off-duty policeman witnessed the robbery and confronted the gunman, killing the man identified in media reports as Jean Wilner Duperval. Two other men believed to be suspects in the attempted robbery escaped. Radio Kiskeya posted a message on their website, saying "It is with dismay and deep sadness that the entire team of Radio Kiskeya learned the murder committed on a son of the station, reporter and presenter Jean Louis Charles Richard. At 29 he had great potential that many in the audience recognized." The independent station suspended programming and played music in tribute to Richard.
