Verdugo was unhappy when cyclists nearly ran into his car one day. Verdugo said on the air, "run your vehicles at them immediately, don't give them time to think, and crush them." His comments were not taken well by Mexico City's top environmental official, as the government encourages bicycle use as an alternative to driving in Mexico's largest city, with a population of 20 million.
