A Philadelphia station objects to a paid ad containing the words "rape" and "sexual"

Jerry Lee’s AC WBEB says “we offered to work with the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape, at our cost, to create a modified ad that raises awareness of this issue” while meeting its own content standards. In its defense, B101 says that “‘Mommy, what’s that mean?’ is a phrase that makes [listeners] feel that we as a radio station have let” them down. According to a press release from PCAR, “WBEB’s General Manager Blaise Howard offered PCAR space only if it altered the wording to remove the word "rape” from the organization’s name and [to] say “child abuse” instead of “child sexual abuse”, citing that the station’s listeners would be upset by the words that are currently used.“ The group’s executive director says "If the station doesn’t believe its listeners could handle hearing words about abuse, imagine what child victims of sexual abuse are experiencing.” PCAR has launched a campaign asking people to call “B101” and voice their opinion.
