A Salem Radio exec slams Fox News over the Santorum suspension

Salem Communications logo Due to the possibility that two of their commentators may consider a run for the 2012 Republican Presidential nomination, Fox News has suspended both former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum. The suspension does not sit well with Salem Communications VP of News & Talk Programming Tom Tradup, who blasted Fox over the suspension of both, but especially Santorum. He is a regular fill-in for Salem Radio Network's Bill Bennett "Morning in America" program. Tradup tells Politico in an email, "I’m a regular FOX viewer, but this is truly bizarre and goofy development. Only someone with a view of the world similar to that of an ant isn’t aware that Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich are considering White House bids in 2012. So are Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee…but FOX News Channel isn’t suspending them." Salem will keep Santorum on the air, until he announces a formal bid for the White House. As for Gingrich, Tradup says his "phone lines are open" if Gingrich ever wants to call in, before the point he declares for the White House.
