Actress Frances Bay, featured on "Seinfeld" and "Happy Gilmore", dies at 92
Before her decades of success in TV and the movies, Frances Bay was "The girlfriend to the Canadian Forces" on World War II radio, on the CBC show named "Everybody's Program." She did stage acting and radio work before the war, then got married and didn't work outside the home for a while. Her extensive movie career - usually cast as a grandmother - included roles in "Happy Gilmore" (as Adam Sandler's grandmother), "The Wedding Planner", and David Lynch films such as "Blue Velvet" and "Wild At Heart." Bay's many TV appearances were on shows from "Happy Days" and "The Jeffersons" to "Seinfeld" - where she was the woman who had a just-purchased loaf of bread taken out of her hands by the Senfield character. Frances Bay even appeared in the very last episode of "Seinfeld." The "Canada's Walk of Fame" site has more about Bay, here. The Los Angeles Times says she died last Thursday in a Los Angeles hospital at age 92.
