"Africa" comments lead to Eric Deters' firing at Cincinnati's WLW-AM
It was a video comment by weekend talkhost Deters posted on YouTube that said, "If you want to conquer an African nation, send white women and pot." The video has been taken down from the YouTube site, as was another called "Mexicans are Short." Deters, an attorney known by his nickname "Bulldog," has issued a statement saying, "I will no longer be doing any weekend or back up hosting on 700 WLW radio ... I also am free of the corporate bond. It’s not my style to be restricted in speaking out because of a corporate advertiser. I can now speak as I please ... if you want to know why I won’t be on the radio anymore, I don’t know. LOL. I was not given a reason. I suppose we can all assume it was the video blog where I made a joke. The local NAACP even accepted my apology ... The joke may have gone too far, but give me a break." The Enquirer has Deters' complete statement here. All mentions of Deters has been removed from the Clear Channel talk station's website, and the Cincinnati Board of Radio-Info.com is talking about the incident. - Discuss it.
