After an award-winning 27-year run, Sir Terry Wogan hangs up his headphones on BBC Radio 2

Wogan will host his last morning radio show on BBC Radio 2 on Friday, ending 27 years of waking up Great Britain, and an audience of nearly eight million people on the “Wake Up to Wogan Show.” Wogan’s career started in his native Ireland with RTE as a news anchor and DJ before joining the BBC. He spent five decades in radio and TV with the BBC, and won a number of awards during his storied career. In 2005, Michael Terence Wogan became “Sir Terry” when Queen Elizabeth II bestowed an honorary knighthood on him. Starting next year, BBC Radio One’s Chris Evans moves to Radio 2 to host mornings. London’s Mirror newspaper has tributes to Wogan.
