Air America gets a new owner and a new Chairman
Charlie Kireker's Pendulum Media buys a controlling interest in the New York-based progressive network/syndicator from Steve Green, whose brother Mark Green continues as President. Who's Kireker? He's a businessman (former managing director of Vermont's FreshTracks Capital) and former government official (head of the Massachusetts Industrial Finance Agency). Kireker thanks Steve Green for being "instrumental in the successful effort to save and stabilize Air America." Also joining Kireker as investors in Air America: Terry Kelly (an original backer of the project), Ethan Garber, Mark Walsh (former CEO of VerticalNet) and former AAR chairman Eugene Kellin. And joining Air America's staff: Philippe Collin, in the role of Senior VP and General Manager of Interactive Media. Veteran radio exec Scott Elberg remains as COO.
