All as expected, Tribune CEO Randy Michaels resigns
Tuesday morning’s Tribune Company board meeting didn’t immediately produce an announcement about Michaels' future, but the Chicago Tribune soon published a story saying that Michaels would be resigning from the company that has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy since December 7, 2008. Also that the company will be temporarily governed by a four-person “Office of the President.” The Chicago paper was right about that, too. The four executives are Tribune’s chief re-structuring officer Don Liebentritt, its chief investment officer, Los Angeles Times publisher Eddy Hartenstein, and Chicago Tribune publisher Tony Hunter. It’s unclear which of them will oversee Tribune’s only radio station: talk WGN, Chicago (720), whose general manager is Tom Langmyer. The Chicago Discussion Board of Radio-Info.com is talking about Michaels and the future of WGN and Tribune, here.
