Alpha Broadcasting Opens Bing Lounge In Portland
At last February’s Country Radio Seminar, Alpha Broadcasting honcho Larry Wilson was discussing plans to build a performance studio at the company’s Portland, Ore., facilities, which houses six stations: KUFO, KXFD-AM (Freedom 970), KUPL, KXTG (95.5 the Game), KINK and KXL-AM. Now, that facility has opened its doors with sponsor Bing nabbing the naming rights to the new Bing Lounge, housed at the Pac West Center. The venue opened yesterday with a performance from Five For Fighting. This week the venue will also host performances by Melissa Etheridge, Crowded House, and the Doobie Brothers. Additional artists booked in the coming weeks and months include Shawn Mullins, the Avett Brothers, Lee Brice, Justin Moore, Modern English, the Black Keys, and Mumford & Sons, as well as a speaker series and sports viewing events. All of the events are tied in with various Alpha stations. The venue will also house medical and business speakers, as well as visiting dignitaries, athletes, celebrities and cultural icons. Bing will have online exclusive rights to the performance and event video content, all of which will be available on Bing Video for a global audience. Musical performances and event segments will also air on the Alpha radio stations.
