AM "Classic Hits" station KMZQ (670) debuts in Las Vegas
The new “Q” is playing the best rock of the '70s and '80s, and will feature morning host Bill Gardner. He’s a radio vet, heard for years on CBS-owned KOOL-FM Phoenix, who left that station in February. As reported in this morning’s Taylor On Radio-Info, new-build KMZQ’s doing a soft sign-on at less than its authorized daytime power of 30-kw (it will have 600 watts at night). Bill says “if you can’t pick it up yet, don’t give up – much more power coming soon.” He’s also now being heard back in parts of the Phoenix market on another station owned by Kemp Communications. That’s Payson-licensed KMZQ-FM at 99.3. Bill’s one of three Gardner brothers still putting on headphones every day: Al’s the co-host with Stacey Simms of the WBT, Charlotte “Morning News” and youngest brother Andre does afternoons at classic rock WMGK, Philadelphia.
