An Australian talk host loses his court appeal, after naming sex offenders
Melbourne's 3AW talk host Derryn Hinch lost his appeal to the High Court in Canberra in a case where he challenged the law regarding the release of the names of sex offenders. Three years ago, Hinch revealed the names of two notorious sex offenders while speaking at a rally for the victims of violent crime, claiming it was unconstitutional to protect the names of convicted sex offenders. He was arrested and charged with offenses that could carry fines of up to $60,000 and five years in prison. The news of Hinch losing his appeal comes the same week he was told by doctors that his liver cancer has worsened and he may have only eight months to live unless he receives a transplant. Hinch was too sick to travel to the capital of Canberra for the case, and went to court in Melbourne to receive the unanimous verdict. You can read more about Hinch from 3AW's news website here.
