Announced at the MMTC conference: Clear Channel donates two more stations

Clear Channel

Clear Channel had previously committed to donating four stations to the not-for-profit Minority Media & Telecom Council, and at Tuesday’s conference in Washington, D.C. it announced that two more licenses will be offered. Those are Minneapolis' sports “Score 690” KFXN and northwestern New Jersey oldies WTOC, Newton (1360). At the 2009 MMTC conference, Clear Channel said it was donating stations in Mississippi, Arkansas, South Carolina and Minnesota. This year, there’s news about two of those four stations. “ESPN Radio 1380” WYNF, North Augusta, SC “has been awarded to Shannon Renee deMedicis of Medici Media”, and she’ll run it under an LMA while financing and other issues are being handled. Jeffrey Hedgemon gets currently-silent WHJA, Laurel, Mississippi at 890. Clear Channel is assisting with the transfer as part of its arrangement with the MMTC. Clear Channel Radio CEO John Hogan says the company is interested in creating “more opportunities for those who want to excel in the radio industry.” Shannon deMedicis has spent 25 years in radio sales and also in publishing, at Billboard. Jeffrey Hedgemon started in the business 40 years ago at KXOK, Baton Rouge and has programmed and managed, before getting this shot at ownership.
