Another radio reporter is shot and killed in the Philippines

Crime Scene She was the late-morning talk show host on DZME-AM (1530) "Radyo Uno" in Caloocan City. Police are investigating the murder of Marlina Flores-Somera, shot twice in the neck at close range as she was on her way to the radio station in a suburb of Manila. Flores-Somera was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was 45 and the mother of three children. Police have formed a task force to look into her murder, and believe a possible motive might be her position with a local homeowner's association involved in a land dispute where she was president, but are also looking to whether her murder is work-related. The International Press Institute reports that Flores-Somera is the 98th journalist killed in the Philippines since 2000, and the fourth in less than one year. The Star newspaper from Manila has more details about her murder here.
