Apple's Steve Jobs dies at 56

Steve Jobs final The Apple co-founder revolutionized the world of the consumer and the computer user with the Macintosh, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. He also revolutionized the movie business, with a division of Lucasfilm named Pixar. Jobs had dealt with pancreatic cancer that was diagnosed in 2003 and treated with surgery in 2004. In 2009 he underwent a liver transplant, and earlier this year he stepped away from Apple as its CEO.

Now the Apple board says "We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."
