Artist Jamie O'Neal Launches Her Own Label
Country singer/songwriter Jamie O'Neal has joined forces with her father, and contracted with several Nashville music industry veterans to launch her own independent record label, Momentum Label Group. O'Neal landed three top five hits between 2001 and 2005 when she was signed to Mercury, and then Capitol: "There Is No Arizona," "When I Think About Angels," and "Somebody's Hero." She will oversee all aspects of the new label venture, serving as the producer to some of the label's artist roster.O'Neal's father and manager, Jimmy Murphy, will serve as Momentum's general manager and partner. Murphy has spent his whole life in the music business, beginning as a recording artist in New Zealand, where he was a star on the "Australian Bandstand." Most recently, his songs have been featured on the "Desperate Housewives" soundtrack and "America's Funniest Home Videos." In addition to managing O'Neal, Murphy also oversees the careers of his other daughter, Minnie Murphy, as well as Momentum's flagship artist, Rachele Lynae.
Look for Lynae to release her debut single, "Party 'Til the Cows Come Home," in March.
The key team of mostly independent contractors assisting O'Neal and Murphy with the label includes music industry veteran John Ettinger, who will head up the radio strategies portion of the label; Jessica Northey, who will oversee the label's social media/web strategies division; and John Christian, who will head up West Coast promotions.
Also involved with the launch of Momentum Label Group will be Rick Kelly of Marco Music Group, Bobbe Morhiser of Marco Club Connection DJ & Dance Promotion, and Craig Bann of Aristo Media's video promotion and marketing department. Publicity for the label will be handled by Schatzi Hageman of Hot Schatz PR.
The label is located at 8161 Hwy 100, Suite 179, Nashville, TN 37221. Phone is 615-340-6659 and the Web site is momentumlabelgroup.com.
