Atlanta's "99X" gets a live morning personality with Axel Lowe at the helm
Rodney Ho of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Axel Lowe is returning to Cumulus alternative rocker “99X” (heard on the translator at 97.9). Lowe previously worked for Cumulus on “Atlanta’s Rock station” WNNX (100.5), where he did afternoon drive. He’ll now handle the morning show on “99X” and oversee programming for the station, starting August 16. “99X” hasn’t had any on air personalities up until this point. Lowe worked for the original “99X” before it was taken off the air in 2008 and initially tried to be an online-only radio station. Back at “Rock 100.5,” another “99X” alum, Matt “Organic” Jones, will take on afternoon duties. From the Journal Constitution: Lowe “will be a one-man show and the station will remain ‘music intensive,’ though he promises more ‘content’ than what he had been doing at Rock 100.5.”
