Auction time again for new frequencies at the FCC, though it's a "closed auction"

The bidders have already been chosen for the 13 FMs, two FM translators and three future AM stations which will be auctioned off in the online competition that begins July 20. The Commission’s Auction 88 should resolve a number of “MX” groups that have been hanging for years, where “MX” means mutually exclusive. For instance, in Greenwood, Arkansas, George Flinn, Ramsey Leasing and Jem Broadcasting will compete for a new FM at 101.5. The full-power FM licenses also in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Puerto Rico, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. The two FM translators will be in California and New Jersey. Two of the three AMs will be in Terre Haute, Indiana, and the third is in Lansing/South Hill, New York. Read the FCC’s Public Notice here. See the list of allocations up for auction here.
