Austin's KLBJ-AM reverses course and will bring back Todd & Don
The mid-morning duo was dumped as a team after a July incident when co-host Don Pryor repeatedly used the slur “wetback.” KLBJ-AM (590) parent company Emmis Communications received a number of complaints, including boycott threats from the Hispanic community. Pryor was pulled from the air, but not fired, while co-host Todd Jeffries continued solo. KEYE-TV says Emmis has reversed course, and will reinstate Pryor to the airwaves and team him back with Jeffries, starting December 7 in their original timeslot. Employees at all of Emmis Austin’s six stations will be taking mandatory diversity training, as part of the outcome of meetings with Hispanic leaders.
