Austin's newest station is a laugh riot: "Comedy 102.7"
Emmis is basing its new FM translator-carried station on the "24/7 Comedy Radio Network", which is also supplying programming in markets such as Kansas City. Emmis market manager Scott Gillmore says Austin is "renowned for its live music scene and music-loving residents", and now "the growing comedy scene and laugh-loving Austinites will have a place on their radio dial to find their favorite comedians, to discover new comedians, and to provide an outlet for the local comedy scene." Emmis operates other stations in Austin such as "independent, local, alternative" 101X/KROX-FM and "news radio KLBJ" on 590 and 99.7. The new "Comedy 102.7" is heard on a 240-watt FM translator, K274AX, licensed to Austin and owned by Emmis. The San Antonio-Austin Board of Radio-Info.com is talking about the funny business, here.
