Authorities confirm they have found the body of Colorado DJ Rick Steele
Popular KBNG-FM, Ridgway (103.7) morning host Rick Steele went for a walk with his two dogs on July 1, and never returned. A massive search led authorities to a fast-moving canal and fears that Steele may have fallen in, prompting police to set up a net in the canal downriver. On July 17, a member of the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office found a body in that canal. Sadly, the County Coroner has confirmed the identity of that body as that of Steele. The death has been ruled an accidental drowning. The station left a message on their website, saying “We would like to thank everyone for their selfless work in trying to locate Steele. We also thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers as we go through this tragic time. Many thanks go out to the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff’s Posse for their endless work on this case. May the fun loving guy that we knew in our hallways and inside our radio always be remembered.” Steele passed away just one day after his 48th birthday.
