Authorities yank the license of Canada's college station CKLN-FM
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has taken the unusual step of revoking the broadcast license of Toronto's CKLN-FM (88.1), located on the campus of Ryerson University. The move comes following a nearly two-year investigation into the station's operations, which included infighting among paid and non-paid staff, a seven-month lockout and numerous violations of CRTC guidelines. CRTC Chairman Konrad von Finckenstein says "CKLN Radio was given several warnings and opportunities to come into compliance. Each time, it demonstrated an inability or unwillingness to address our concerns. Taking away its license is the only appropriate course of action in this case." You can read the complete order by the CRTC here.
