Bangor, Maine's WAEI-FM flips sports for adult hits; AM maintains Fox Sports
Blueberry Broadcasting’s WAEI-FM Bangor, Maine, flips from its simulcast with "Fox Sports" WAEI-AM (910) to adult hits “Big 104,” with a playlist from the '60s through the '80s. New calls for the Belfast-licensed FM: WBAK-FM—which closely resemble sister station WABK-FM, which broadcasts at 104.3 in Augusta, Maine, 50+ miles from Bangor. The latter plays “classic hits” as Super Hits 104. Big 104 is currently playing 10,000 songs in a row, with no live jocks or info, though the station tells Radio-Info.com that it will be locally programmed. According to the board here, artists include Rod Stewart, Til Tuesday, Elton John, the O’Jays, Bruce Springsteen, U2 and KC & The Sunshine Band. The AM remains Fox Sports. Blueberry bought its 17 outlets from Clear Channel in 2008. Join the discussion on the Northern New England board at Radio-Info.com here.
