Baseball's Texas Rangers put weekday games on "Fan" FM
CBS sister KRLD (1080) will continue to be the place to find the Saturday and Sunday contests of the American League team. But starting this year, the Monday-Friday games will be on the new “Fan 105.3” KRLD-FM. That’s the first time the Rangers games will be heard on the FM band. Why the split? Rangers President Nolan Ryan says it was “the anticipation of some programming conflicts on the Fan on weekends, [so] we decided to leave all of the Saturday and Sunday regular-season games on NewsRadio 1080.” About two-thirds of the schedule will now appear on FM – 110 out of the 162 regular season games. The MLB.com story about the split between AM and FM is here. The Dallas-Ft. Worth board of Radio-Info is deciding how it likes the new split, and that’s here.
