Bernie Ward gets 7 years for distributing child porn
Saying, "He traded in the currency of children's suffering," a judge in California sentenced former Roman Catholic priest and former KGO-AM (810) San Francisco talk show host Bernie Ward to 87 months in prison for distributing child pornography. The 57-year old Ward was arrested after authorities were tipped off that he sent pictures through his computer of two children engaging in a sex act. Police subsequently discovered images of children as young as 3 years old on his home computer, including images of children involved in sadistic and violent sexual acts. Ward's attorney had argued the images of child porn were for "journalistic research." After serving his prison sentence, Ward will be under a lifetime supervised release.
