Big changes at syndicator Citadel Media: "Timeless" to expire, hirings and layoffs
At soft classic hits “Timeless” 24/7 format: Citadel Media says it had been losing affiliates and becoming less attractive to advertisers. The feed will be discontinued as of February 13. For at least some of its remaining formats, Citadel is adopting a new approach to on-air talent. It will be calling on “marquee talent” from Citadel-owned major-market stations for some shifts. At “Today’s Best Country”, current WKHX, Atlanta morning talent Cadillac Jack will do PM drive for the national format, in addition to his wakeups at “Kicks 101.5.” While KSCS, Dallas jock Jeremy Robinson will “go national” with an evening show done from Citadel Media’s Dallas studios, and KSCS will run the Citadel Media national show. At the “Hot AC” format, WPLJ, New York’s Race Taylor will do PM drive, separate from his daily gig at ‘PLJ. Citadel Media’s Carl Anderson and Maureen Lesourd tell Radio-Info there are more talent announcements to come. Finally, at the “AC” format, consultant Mike McVay of McVay Media will work on both current programming and new offerings, “targeting key advertiser demographics.” There’s an active thread about the Citadel changes on the Radio-Info.com Boards.
