Big Machine Label Group Reportedly On The Market

Taylor Swift 2010 Sony is reportedly in preliminary talks to purchase Nashville-based Big Machine Label Group, according to Bloomberg.com, which reports that Big Machine could fetch $200 million. Big Machine's superstar acts include Taylor Swift (pictured), Reba McEntire and Rascal Flatts and it encompasses three labels: Big Machine Records, the Valory Music Company and Republic Nashville. The latter is jointly owned by New York-based Republic Records, which could complicate plans to sell that piece, whose acts include the Band Perry and Martina McBride.

But according to Bloomberg, Universal Music Group may also enter the bidding for Big Machine.

If the sale to Sony happens, Big Machine founder and CEO Scott Borchetta would reportedly run Sony's Nashville operations, which includes labels Arista Nashville, BNA, Columbia and RCA and is home to such superstars as Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney.
