Bill Bailey, the "Duke of Louisville", dies at 81
Bill Bailey (William Boahn) did mornings at Chicago's WLS for a year and worked in Lexington at the end of his career. But he was best-known for his years in Louisville, hosting mornings at WKLO (starting in 1965) and then the original top 40 WAKY-AM and WCII. There's a YouTube video about Bailey from WAVE-TV last August, here. Another Louisville TV station, WHAS-TV, notes that Bailey "often partnered with WHAS 11's Reed Yadon." Bailey left radio in 1994. In 2003 he suffered a stroke and thereafter lived in Friendship Manor Nursing Home. WHAS-TV says "He continued to entertain guests for the eight years he was there." John Quincy's 79WAKY.com has a tribute page up to Bailey here. The Kentucky Board of Radio-Info.com is talking about Bill Bailey, here.
