Bill Heywood, former Phoenix personality, is found dead in a hotel room
Update: The Arizona Republic says Heywood and his wife had "confronted financial hardships in recent years", and Susan Heywood had medical issues. At least one of the deaths appears to be a suicide.
The body of Bill Heywood's wife Susan was also found at the Homewood Suites hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona, and authorities say there was a note. It's a shocking development in the market where Heywood spent many years on news/talk KTAR (in four different stints), and also at stations such as KOY-AM/FM and KFYI. KTAR itself covers the story and says the bodies were discovered Wednesday afternoon. The Phoenix Board of Radio-Info.com says Heywood spent upwards of 40 years on the air locally, before retiring in 2005. Bill Heywood was active on the local charity scene, with the Starlight Children's Foundation, the Arthritis Foundation ,Crisis Nursery, Fresh Start Women's Foundation and more. The discussion on the Phoenix board about Bill Heywood is here.
