Birmingham's WERC-AM gets a new FM simulcast – which dooms rocker "Vulcan"
“Vulcan” WVVB (105.5) had sunk 2.9 to 2.2 to 1.9 (age 12+ AQH shares) in the last three Arbitron quarterly books, into 14th place. Clear Channel’s fix-it decision is to simulcast 12th-place talker WERC (960), and that happened late Sunday. The WERC talent roster is the local Steve & Leah, 6-11am, then Rush Limbaugh, 11am-2pm, Glenn Beck, 2-6pm, Clark Howard, 6-9pm, and Coast To Coast from 9pm-4am. Weekend talker Ben Ferguson was one of the first voices heard on the former rock station Sunday evening. “Vulcan” WVVB is a Class C2 licensed to Hoover, Alabama, and it went rock from black gospel, 2-½ years ago. The Alabama Board of Radio-Info is talking about the fate of the Vulcan here.
