Bob Shomper to program CBS Radio's news/talk WCCO, Minneapolis (830)
Shomper returns to his native midwest from KTAR-FM, Phoenix, and he succeeds the departed Wendy Paulson as the program director at WCCO. She left in February. Before going to Phoenix, Shomper programmed two different talk stations in Chicago: Tribune's WGN (720) and Citadel's WLS (890). He also programmed Citadel's WBAP in Dallas-Ft. Worth. As the Minneapolis Star-Tribune observes, WCCO has recently lost a number of familiar voices, including Al Malmberg, Brad Walton, Jack Rice, Tim Russell, Dark Star and Eric Eskola. It has also lost a number of its sports franchises to other stations in the Twin Cities. New 'CCO PD Shomper will be working with midday host John Williams, who also does an airshift for one of the stations Shomper used to program (Chicago's WGN).
