Bonneville Leases Out Its Washington, D.C.-market 1050, Which Goes Regional Mexican
“La Mera Mera 1050!” WBQH, Silver Spring, MD drops out of its simulcast with all-news Bonneville’s WTOP-FM (103.5) under a new agreement with United Media Group. General Manager Homero Huerta brings along program director Gina Leyva and news director Jose Angel Aguirre. Mornings will be the syndicated Eddie Sotelo with the “Piolin [Tweety Bird] por la Manana” show. The Bonneville-owned 1050 frequency has had a number of formats recently, including progressive talk (in an LMA with Air America as WZAA). It was the original home of Bonneville’s unique “Federal News Radio”, now heard on the stronger signal of WFED (1500).
