Boston's Jay Severin is back on WTKK – with an apology
He was off the air for a month, suspended for a series of Mexican slurs. But WTKK-FM (96.9) afternoon talk host Jay Severin returned to the airwaves Tuesday, starting his show with a 2 minute and 30 second apology. He said his remarks “were hurtful, unkind, and wrong” and told the Mexican-American community he was sorry. Severin also said “To every person I have offended by my recent remarks, I'm truly regretful and I extend my apology. To those who were not offended, I still let you down by appealing to something less than the best and brightest in you, and for this I am also sorry.” You can listen to Severin’s apology, courtesy of the Boston Globe, by clicking here. Severin was suspended following his April 30 remarks, when he described Mexicans as “primitives,” and said Mexico was an exporter of “women with mustaches and VD.” Discuss it here:
