Boston's "Sports Hub" host Fred “Toucher” Toettcher likens an NFL draft party to a "Nazi rally"
The morning drive host on Boston’s WBZ-FM (98.5) “The Sports Hub” made the comment regarding video footage of a draft party for quarterback Tim Tebow, who was taken by the Denver Broncos in the recent NFL draft. Toettcher was quoted by the Boston Herald as saying, “It looked like some kind of Nazi rally … So lily-white is what I’m trying to say. Yeah, Stepford Wives.” The Herald quotes Boston University political history professor Bruce Schulman, who called the remarks "tasteless and inappropriate,” and Dan Gainor of Washington’s Media Research Center, who said it’s “stunning that Toettcher didn’t lose his job.” A WBZ station spokesman tells the Herald they “received no inquiries” and had no further comment.
