BP continues to plow cash into radio ads
While Media Monitors says the number of BP TV ads remained about the same over the last week, there was a five-fold increase in radio spots in just one week, increasing from 2,063 to 10,684. The survey covers the period from August 10 to August 16. Out of the top-25 radio markets where BP aired commercials, the top three were Tampa, Fort Myers/Naples and Orlando, accounting for one-tenth of all BP radio ads. Miami ranked at #5 and West Palm Beach #8. The move by BP to increase ad coverage in Florida comes after Gov. Charlie Crist announced more money needs to be spent to promote Florida’s clean beaches. The governor says people should not fear oil washing up on shore in the Sunshine State.
