Bubba the Love Sponge stays with Sirius XM
His contract renewal was apparently down to the very end, but today Sirius announces a “multi-year” renewal to keep the Tampa-based personality on its “Howard 101” channel. Bubba (Todd Clem) was the first non-Stern talent signed to the lineup, after he was cut loose by Clear Channel in the Tampa market. Sirius XM President and Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein says “Bubba has become an important asset at satellite radio.” Earlier this year, Bubba staged a triumphant return to terrestrial radio on several Cox stations (such as Tampa-area “Bone” WHPT/102.5), and his terrestrial syndication has recently added several affiliates in the Southeast. Talk about satellite radio on the message boards at Radio-Info.com.
