California judge dismisses a lawsuit against KABC & its morning host
A judge tosses a slander and civil rights lawsuit against Citadel's KABC (790) in Los Angeles and the host of the "McIntyre in the Morning Show", Doug McIntyre. The court action stemmed from comments made by McIntyre about the Academia Semillas Del Pueblo school, located in East Los Angeles. During broadcasts in May 2006, McIntyre allegedly called it a "madrasa school" and a training ground for "Aztec revolutionaries." In his ruling, the judge stated the remarks made by McIntyre "were opinion and not a command to imminent violence or other lawless action." The school claimed that due to the remarks, it received threats of violence, including a bomb scare.
