Canada's CBC Radio juggles their programming, and adds more repeats

The recession will play a part in some of the changes at CBC Radio. Starting June 29, the CBC Radio One local noon shows will be cut from two hours to one, the mid-afternoon shows will be repeats, and the afternoon schedule will also add some packaged programming. On Radio 2, Tom Allen’s show will be one hour shorter with classical music beginning earlier, as Julie Nesrallah’s five-hour classical program now begins at 9am. Allen will also return for an afternoon show, before Rich Terfry’s afternoon drive program. The CBC has a list of all the changes here. All of the changes will be phased in during the summer, through September 7. The moves come as CBC Radio is facing a $171 million deficit for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
