Canadian talkhost's name is banned from a Toronto arena
It wasn't for what he did - it was for what he said. Toronto's CFMJ-AM (640) afternoon host Bill Watters has been critical of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team, so much so that Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment has removed all references to Watters from the Air Canada Center. The ban also includes advertisements of Watters' show on the arena's electronic display. According to the Toronto Globe & Mail, Watters has taken verbal shots at Maple Leafs management and ownership in the past, which MLSE management called "deeply personal." Despite censoring Watters from the arena, CFMJ remains the team's radio rights holder and the station is free to promote Watters outside of the Air Canada Center.
