Candidate Rick Santorum will lose his Salem fill-in job
First, he was taken off the air by Fox News when they believed he would be a candidate for President. Now, Salem Communications is taking the talk host microphone away from former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, who has announced he will make his run for the GOP nomination for President official. Santorum has been the regular Friday replacement for Salem's syndicated Bill Bennett talk show. Salem VP for News & Talk Programming Tom Tradup tells Politico, “If he in fact does formally declare his candidacy for president we will no longer use him as a guest host on ‘Bill Bennett’s Morning In America.’” Santorum recently announced he'd make his intentions known on June 6 in his home state of Pennsylvania. While Santorum would lose his regular Friday guest host slot, he will still be welcome on Salem airwaves, as would any other announced candidate for interviews.
