CBS halts "Commercial Free Mondays" on Los Angeles CHR "Amp 97.1"
The ratings weren’t showing much difference between PPM-measured listening on Mondays and other weekdays. The “commercial-free” promotion had been running for the 15 months since KAMP-FM replaced talker KLSX, in early 2009. According to LARadio.com, CBS programmer Kevin Weatherly says that with a cume of nearly three million, “We are ready for phase two of our evolution.” Phase One was a strong launch, putting “Amp” into the top five, age 6+ AQH share. Its quick success inspired CBS to convert an underperforming New York signal to CHR, as “92.3 Now.” The Los Angeles Board of Radio-Info.com takes notice of the change in Amp’s commercial policy, here.
