CBS News Radio reporter Cami McCormick is seriously injured covering the war in Afghanistan
She was traveling in an Army vehicle in Logar Province Friday when an IED exploded nearby. She was first taken to a field hospital for surgery, says CBS News, then transported to Bagram Air Base, north of Kabul. McCormick joined CBS News in 1998 and has done radio reporting from places like Ground Zero in New York City on 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She was working in the Persian Gulf area when the Iraq war was launched in 2003. Her prior experience includes working at CNN and CNN Radio, and she was once stationed in Moscow. McCormick has won five Edward R. Murrow Awards personally and contributed work that won other Murrows for CBS News Radio.
