CBS Radio debuts Last.fm Discover today in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco

CBS Radio has launched its new Last.fm Discover format, both on-line and on four HD Radio multicast channels. The over-the-air version can be heard in New York on WWFS-FM (102.7 HD2); Los Angeles, on KCBS-FM (93.1 HD2); Chicago, on WXRT-FM (93.1 HD3); and San Francisco, on KITS-FM (105.3 HD3). The Last.fm Discover channel is based on the charts at the CBS-owned Last.fm portal. The online version is interactive (allowing listeners to skip songs for example); both the Internet and the HD version will feature specialized content – including guest appearances this week from Muse, the site’s current No. 1 band. In the future, it will also feature “a variety of live performances from the New York studio, interviews with breaking and established artists and special features which will guide listeners through new music, users comments, events, recommendations and news.” Artists heard in the first hour of the over-the-air format in New York include Miike Snow, Coldplay, Metric, Drake, U2, and Empire Of The Sun. Seth Neiman is the PD for the new service.
