Charlotte's newest all-sports station challenges the CBS "Fan"
Saying it was too hard trying to sell ads on an AM oldies station, WZGV, Cramerton, NC (730) gives up the music format after six months to try sports. GM Lanny Ford tells the Charlotte Observer “There was a little too much competition with music on the FM, even though we played stuff others didn’t.” The new station is affiliated with Fox Sports Radio, while CBS-owned "Fan” WFNZ (610) is an ESPN Radio station. WZGV will clear some NFL games and also the football and basketball games of Appalachian State University.
